like girl what am i doing here

can a guy critique in peace

i did not tear you down . i did tear down that game from 1999 bc it had one weak arc, but not you. it's okay to get defensive bc you like that game from 1999, but please, god, i wanted to discuss things or hear your thoughts, and a valiant defense was not . really a discussion tbh

idk i fear ppl are convinced you're either 100% in or out. like if you love this game from 1999 you love Everything abt it and if you don't, you have to preface your critique w one million compliments lest the devs see it. i don't think they give a fuck.

if you critique it, you must hate it or have a deep-seated beef w it. no. i just so happen to have positive and negative thoughts on everything. that is the nature of this shit. everyone has onions and purity testing every damn fan is an exercise not only in futility but in circlejerking. oh my god can we talk abt what we don't like abt the game from 1999 in PEACE???

related note but having to coat your critiques in moral grandstanding has done so much damage to media analysis. you can't dislike the game from 1999 bc it slows down the pace and lets a character escape introspection; you can dislike it for robbing a female character of her voice though! ... and even then, it's still silly bc this game has a serious problem w holding her accountable in the same way as other characters bc of her own image issues/writers feeding into it. i also dislike the scene for not having her face herself; other ppl don't want to talk abt that though.

if i'm honest, i think too many ppl see themselves in the characters, and want the comfort of a big sis ma-ya to their tatsuya, or are a ma-ya escaping themselves. stop. if anything, you should critique harder bc there's something you see in the text in yourself. work at it. you can grow... you can change... STOP RUNNING FROM YOURSELVES AND PLAYING PURITY POLICE!!! (rant brought to you by "why was the only part of my critique that you actually addressed abt maya having a voice")
